What is your favorite spot to shoot in San Francisco, and why?
I like shooting the Golden Gate Bridge, because it looks different every time the sun hits it, and also, free parking.
When and why did you take up photography?
I started photography about 6 months ago. It’s a pretty short amount of time, but I haven’t put my camera down since. I started posting on Instagram daily about 3 months ago.
What do you love about photography?
I love photography because I am able to express myself and push my creativity daily.
How do you decide what to shoot?
I usually decide when I get to the spot. If I’m doing a portrait I usually plan ahead for props and any lighting tools I will need, but if it’s just landscape I don’t plan. I get inspired as I walk around.
What’s your favorite part about going out to shoot?
Going out and taking pictures is really refreshing; it gets me out of my seat and keeps me active.
Which location did you have the most difficulty getting to, and how did you do it?
I’ve always wanted to get a rooftop shot of the city. I haven’t been able to find any properties that allow people on their roof. One day I’ll find a spot.
What is your dream shot? (Where, what time of day, what’s in it / the subject?)
My dream shot is a helicopter shot of the city as the sun sets with some awesome clouds.
What is your favorite app to use for photo editing on the go, and what are your top 3 favorite filters?
I haven’t used any photo editing apps, I tend to stay away from any filters that I haven’t created.
How does Instagram and the #SFGuide community inspire you?
The photography community in SF is so friendly, I’ve been able to meet so many amazing friends through this photography journey as well as mentors and it is important that platforms like #SFGuide to feature photographers in order to be recognized.
What are your favorite San Francisco-based Instagram accounts to follow?
A few of my favorites are @SFGATE, @onlyinsf, @sanfrancisco, @streetsofsf, and @sfpulse.
What type of camera do you use? And what is your dream camera?
I use a Canon 5D Mark IV. My dream was always to have any of the 5D series camera and I finally got it.
What are your favorite settings in your idea shot?
Lens: 16-35 mm
Aperture: Depends
Shutter Speed: Depends
ISO: 100
White Balance: Auto

What advice would you give to new or rising photographers that you wish you had received when you first started?
I would say that YouTube is my best source for questions. Take advantage of it. I learned every single thing about my camera’s settings and Lightroom through YouTube.
What do you love about living in the San Francisco Bay Area?
I love that this city has so much culture and diversity. San Francisco also has the best food.
