Sonoma Must List: Gary Farrell Vineyards’ Healdsburg Tasting Room

Gary Farrell Wines

It’s summer in San Francisco, and that can only mean one—maybe two things: lazy weekends on the Russian River and wine tasting in Sonoma County’s wine country.

This summer, we are expanding our #SonomaMustList to include the newly reopened tasting room at Gary Farrell Vineyards in Healdsburg, CA.

Perched atop a hill with breathtaking valley views and indoor-outdoor seating, Gary Farrell Vineyards is a must-visit destination for wine tasting and relaxation just 15 minutes from the heart of Guerneville. Tucked away on Westside Road — touted as the “Miracle Mile” for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir — the small-batch winery focuses on just that and other rarities for the area (Sauvignon Blanc! Zinfandel!), with grapes sourced from renowned Russian River Valley vineyards: Rochioli, Gap’s Crown, and Durell.

The 49 Miles Team was recently invited by Gary Farrell and Emily Martin Events to taste a selection of Gary Farrell wines paired with a delightful meal at Valette on Healdsburg Plaza. Bold, fruit-forward Pinot Noirs, particularly the outstanding Rochioli Vineyard Pinot Noir with a unique aroma of black tea and rose petals, paired excellently with charcuterie and cheese and dishes like duck confit, while the crisp Durell Chardonnay shined with scallops en croûte.

Gary Farrell Vineyards wines are only available to purchase in their tasting room.
