San Francisco Weekend Guide: April 7 – April 9
This week was filled with mind-blowing events: UNC took home the NCAA Men’s basketball championship title, Nikki Bella was proposed to by a man we can’t see, Kendrick Lamar set a release date for “ALBUM”, his fourth studio album, and Donald Trump decided to launch a military strike against Syria on Thursday.
This weekend is filled with commemorative activities, from block parties to the Summer of Love and Cherry Blossom Festival’s 50th anniversaries.

Friday, April 7th
FIRST FRIDAY → Kickstart your weekend at Oakland’s First Fridays Festival! Festivities start at 5PM in Oakland’s Koreatown Northgate neighborhood. Jam packed with galleries, artist collectives, street artists, local culinary artisans, performers, musicians, dancers, DJs, and poets, this block party will be the place to be on Friday night.

Saturday, April 8th
FEEL THE LOVE → Amidst times of war, anti-statism, and the hippie movement, thousands of youths flocked to San Francisco’s Haight Ashbury for one of the most ?lit? summers in history. Filled with sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll, the Summer of Love in 1967 was the muse for artists around the world. This Saturday, the de Young Museum will showcase Summer of Love-inspired exhibits, from psychedelic sounds to poster-making demonstrations. Surround yourself in peace and love at this groovy show.

EGG HUNT → Bring your furry friends to Golden Gate Park this Saturday for Wag Hotels’ 8th Annual Doggie Easter Egg Hunt! Hang out with fellow dog lovers and enjoy local vendors on-site, as your dog hunts for eggs filled with tasty treats and prizes. This event is free for public viewing, but will cost $10-15 to participate. All proceeds will be donated to Family Dog Rescue, which has been rescuing dogs and finding them new homes since 2010.

GO TO THIS FESTIVAL → Filled with food vendors, J-Pop, cultural performances, martial arts, and more! The Hello Kitty Café Truck will be present, as well as several bands and DJs. If rain doesn’t interfere, over 200,000 people are expected attend this fantastic Japanese-American event. Join in on the festivities and head out to Japantown this Saturday!
