Easter Sunday is a mere bunny-hop away, and San Francisco is the choice place celebrate. The City is hosting a variety of Easter-themed events for all ages, ranging from the annual Union Street Parade to the infamous Hunky Jesus Contest. Whether you want to spend your day buried in bottomless sangria or on a boat with the Easter bunny, our Easter events guide is your one hop destination.

Described as “wonderful, wacky, elegant and fabulous”, the 26th Annual Union Street Spring Celebration and Easter Parade will feature an array of demonstrations from amazing roller-blading cows, creative self-propelled mini-floats, to garden areas, sophisticated fashions, and classic and art cars. There’ll also be large inflatable bounce houses, kids’ rides, games, a climbing wall, a bubble jump, the Easter Bunny, fun costumed characters, face painting, a petting zoo, a pony ride, and musical entertainment. The event starts at 10AM and the parade will start at 2PM.

A tribute to the 50th Anniversary of the Summer of Love, “Sanctuary: Universal Joy”, hosted by Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Inc. will be taking place at Hellman Hollow in Golden Gate Park on Easter Sunday. The family-friendly portion of this event will start at 10AM and will feature an egg hunt, a plethora of games, and of course, face painting. As the clock strikes 12PM, the PG-13 shenanigans will commence with a musical performance by “Bitch Please!“, a punk band formed in San Francisco. There will be burlesque performances, drag kings and queens, an exorcism ceremony of Donald Trump, and much more. The annual Easter Bonnet, Foxy Mary, and Hunky Jesus contests will begin at 2:30PM, so bring your “A” game and dress to impress. Public transportation or ride sharing is strongly recommended as parking will be hard to find.

Round up the kids and spend this Easter at the historic Ghirardelli Square. There will be live jazz music, chocolate giveaways, face painting, craft booths, and an opportunity to take pictures with the Easter Bunny. Head over to Ghirardelli Square for a chocolatey Easter Sunday that your kids will thank you for.

Easter egg hunt, food trucks serving Easter brunch specials, bottomless mimosas and sangria, a coloring station, and the Giants game?! On Easter Sunday, the SoMa StrEat Food Park is hosting an Easter Food Truck Brunch. This event is free for all to attend, but tickets for bottomless mimosas and sangria will cost $20 and will only be available from 11AM–4PM.

Head over to St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church this Sunday for a Jazzy Easter Gala Celebration service you won’t forget. Pianist Stephen Prutsman will be manning the keyboard to create a fun jazz infused sermon. There will be brunch for all and an exciting egg hunt for children. Doors open at 10:10AM and everyone is welcome.

For the past 90 years, Easterseals Bay Area has been helping families and individuals with disabilities lead healthy lives. Today they provide services to over 3,500 clients including after school programs, community events, behavioral health, and specialized training classes for children, adults, families, and professionals. On April 22nd, Easterseals Bay Area will be hosting their 19th Annual Gala, “Tonight for Tomorrow”, to celebrate their 90 years of wonderful service. This festive black-tie affair will include a fabulous dinner and a musical performance by the lovely Janelle Monáe.

This year’s Spring Eggstravaganza is taking place at the picturesque Sharon Meadow in Golden Gate Park on Saturday. Join in on the fun and take part in their egg hunts, play games, enjoy the live entertainment, and witness the epic annual rib cook-off between SF Recreation and Park, the SFFD, SFPD, and other city departments. Children 2 and under will be granted free admission, while general admission will cost $8. Tickets will be available at the door, but advance tickets will be available at the McLaren Lodge Annex until April 14th.

Take a cruise around the Bay with the Easter Bunny on the Hornblower and enjoy a fabulous brunch buffet — with drinks included — as you take in breathtaking views of the Bay. If you’re going for a more intimate Easter, the Hornblower is also hosting a dinner cruise, featuring a marvelous 4 course meal, live entertainment, and dancing. Both cruises will last 2 and a half hours, but the Easter Bunny will not be present on the dinner cruise.
